Would I be able to get a job at a TV station if I have a degree in computer science?

Posted by admin on July 24th, 2010 and filed under tv station | 1 Comment »

I am intrested in working at a TV station but I am going to school to major in computer science b/c i got a full scholarship to major in that degree and that school doesnt have mass communications as a minor. Would I still be able to get a job working at a TV station if I have a degree in Computer Science?

You usually have to intern at a TV station before you can get a job there because most require atleast six months experience. Good luck!

How can I set up an Internet TV Station?

Posted by admin on July 21st, 2010 and filed under tv station | 1 Comment »

Ok, How CAN I set up a streaming internet TV station/channel? I don’t want it to be live (I don’t use web cams) , I want it to be all programming. I would prefer that this would be an already made service that could help me although, if someone was to provide me a tutorial on how to do this myself, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would need to be able to set these videos and content in an order (like a lineup). Any suggestions or HELP?

I recommend using Adobe Flash. Create a player for your website and then just stream it video files from your studio.

This is the Yo-Yo Guy you’ve seen on MSNBC but you probably haven’t seen this part yet. This is the funniest video I’ve seen in a while and Co-Anchor Alan Mathews probably doesn’t want you to see this.

Can a cable tv station sell advertising time slots to alcohol companies?

Posted by admin on July 19th, 2010 and filed under tv station | 2 Comments »

My boss called and wanted to know if tv stations can advertise alcoholic drinks (beer and/or liquor). It is a broad question and when I google it a bunch of random stuff appears. If you know, could you post the link for me. Thanks.
I found that alcohol companies have self regulating bodies that requires the audience to be 70% of drinking age. Is there any federal or state regulation, besides obviously not advertising to minors?

    Yes they can

I want to start an internet TV Station?

Posted by admin on July 13th, 2010 and filed under tv station | 2 Comments »

I would like to start an internet TV station. Somethng along the lines of VH1 or MTV(Minus the reality TV shows).
I have done a bit of research and even wrote a business plan, on it.
Thing is I dont have the money or the knowledge about webcasting. I was wondering if there was a less expensive and small scale way for a novice to webcast live. I want to see if this kind of venture is worth the effort and if it will pay off financially.

You can start with a small capital.

how can i get a job at a tv or radio station?

Posted by admin on July 10th, 2010 and filed under tv station | 1 Comment »

i’m 6 months shy of becoming 18, and have tried searching endlessly for jobs at news stations and have been largely unsuccessful. i live in Tampa, FL, and am trying to get into FSU film school and i figured working at a tv station could help. but i’ve always wanted to work at a tv station so, i’m not doing it solely to get into a school. anyway, i need some advice because i have no idea how to get a job at the local stations.
    THANKS!
