I’m fed up with both of them as they both do nothing but spew out their own political agenda & are not very biased towards one party or another. I already know it’s not going to happen but if people would start boycotting & refuse to watch these biased stations perhaps they will change & be forced to give the news more fairly once their ratings fall.
Are very biased i meant. Sorry for typo error.
Agreed I don’t even watch those channels any more. It’s ludicrous I thought popularity contests were meant for high school not the news. The media is so unpredictable it’s almost predictable. I don’t watch them any more because I can’t stand when they only focus on what or who is popular. The news is just messed up in general. They focus more on the scandals and divorces of Hollywood more than anything. I guess media whores like Paris Hilton are far more important than the hero who just passed away in the line of duty. Seriously though they are biased. I’m not surprised most news centers are ran by morons who have no idea what they are doing.
*Rant over sorry*
At what point do news stations cross the line between reporting the news and analyzing the news. what are some examples from recent news stories that illustrate the argumentative nature of today’s news coverage.
The advent of cable television really killed what most people today consider "news". Before cable, CBS, ABC, and NBC would have an half hour news show that simple reported the days news and ended.
Now that there are 4 cable channels that report the news 24 hours a day, it has become analysis. They need something to fill all the time, and so they bring in "experts" to tell you what the news "really means". People do not need this but unfortunately the public has become drawn to it.
To answer your question, the second a show gives you anything more than the basic facts, it is no longer reporting. Even something as simple as "this is going to cause a stir", they are beginning to interpret what the news means, and are no longer honestly reporting what is happening.
ABC, CBS, NBC evening news are still pretty respectable. You need to look at where you are getting your news…and know that if it is somewhere that needs to fill time….they are going to give opinions.

With all of the hooplah over Obama and the White House boycotting Fox News (if the rumors are true) it got me wondering, have other presidents done the same? Did Bush not go on certain news stations that criticized him? Such as, CNN? If you answer, please have proof and not just opinion.
But I would like to also add, Obama is NOT banning Fox News and so I do not want a comparison to Lincoln’s control of press. But I just want to know what other presidents publically ignored certain news outlets.
Thanks.
Not that I’m aware of. Nixon did go after the Washington Post (they were the ones that broke Watergate). Obviously, he didn’t want anybody to take these watergate stories seriously. Bad move for him to go after them.
Bush made jokes about the Times on occasion, but nothing like what Obama has been trying to do w/ Fox.
I was shocked that this past Rugby world cup which the USA took part in and did much better than ever before was not advertised or reported on at all on any sport networks or news stations. Why is this?
I personally think that Rugby would be very popular here in the united states. Are they worried about its popularity taking over Football? Or is it because they cant fit as many commercials in during the games?
If people really cared, it would get more coverage, it’s a catch 22 I guess, needs coverage to get people addicted, but stations will go with what already gets them ratings.
Plus, it’s not like there’s any prominent local league with big name players. People like a local connection, or recognizable names
If these news casts are shown here in America why are they allowed to show more graphic images on its news?
And by graphic I mean they show mutilated bodies without any warning or the "fuzzy" lines we get on english news shows.
Their news show also seems to revolve alot more around violent stories.
So why are they allowed to show this stuff on tv? What legal issues are involved here? Does it have to do with where the news originates? Do certain laws not apply here? Or do they just stretch the laws which are the same for all news station no matter the language.
I agree, also how come radio shows in spanish are shockingly graphic without any trouble! I think it is because most censors are focused on the english-speaking stations giving the spanish only stations a free ride, I remember a few years back when 97.9 LA MEGA in NY was fined a certain amount of money because one of their talk show hosts in a show called "El vacilon" said the phrase: Camel toe jeans! YET a day before there was a lady explaining in all detail how her vagina looked like and they did not get fined because the camel toe part was in english and the vagina stuff was in spanish! The sad part is that this stupid show has many viewers and it is not uncommon to enter a store and listen to this filth over the store’s speakers, that is where I heard the vagina stuff, while shopping at a spanish supermarket with my then 7 year old!!!!!! I was horrified, by the way the show is so popular they even have their own TV show now, i guess filth sells.
