I’m driving from Rhode Island to New Jersey next weekend, and was looking for great local restaurants that are close to Route 95 – any suggestions in the Connecticut, New York, or New Jersey area? Thank you!
Get off exit 13 in Ct., puts you on the Post Road (rt. 1). Your within 2 blocks of The Cookhouse, voted best BBQ int the county!
The county I live in is facing a huge budget crisis due to falling home values and lower sales tax revenue. They want us to allow them to raise the tax rate so they do not have to cut back funding to: schools, parks, libraries, fire, human services, and other front line local services.
If this was happening to your home town would you recomend that they raise taxes or cut back on these local services?
The waste and fraud have been cut out in the last few tough years. There is now only meat. Your choice is one or the other. New taxes or service cutbacks.
The first problem is that there are so many different forms of taxation that it creates a lot of room for stealing and lies. The second problem is the idea of a ‘budget’. What a budget means is say you make a 100 dollars and you budget to spend 10 dollars, we still have 90 dollars remaining right? Nobody hears what happens to that money though. My solution is we change all taxation to sales tax. Most people spend like (insert ethnic stereotype here) and that is a poor way to live. Set the sales tax at 25% for everyone and everything in the US and there will no longer be an IRS (a huge organization), there will no longer be tax evasion, there will no longer be tax refunds because you cannot be over taxed and people in the middle class may begin to really save money.
I believe that our general education system in the US needs to be changed greatly. You are what you eat and if you feed your brain mediocrity and laziness then you will become that without doubt. Students should be trialed in every way, pressured to excel and taught to DO IT NOW. Students float through school, we need much more funding for education.
In 1995 the Conservatives lost the Local Elections badly and two years later were out of Government. Will we see the same thing happen with Labour and is this the natural occurence where the party in power simply becomes too stale and we want a change?
i think its more about how labour has turned around and they are no longer the peoples party they have forgotten their roots the 10p income tax is just an example this effected low paid and anyone on pensions that are struggling to make ends meet people feel they now need a change
I have already checked with the local Churches, and looked on my Countys Internet site. I have even checked my local Newspaper.
With all the donations being made, even at Grocery stores , and the Salvation Army collecting, there should be Food available, Indeed finding the source, may be the difficulty. Why not ask at the point of Collection such as Meijers, Kroger’s stores and the Salvation Army are the ones that come to mind, where to go to receive what you need , not only food but clothing if you need it should be available as well. Purple Heart, and others are frequent collectors, there should be a place where the ones in need can get it. Are you able to call them?God bless you
I currently own a website that caters to people locally and I was thinking about selling ad space on my website to local businesses. What do you think is the best way for me to contact a local business with my proposal? Should I call them up, send them a sales letter through the mail, or email them if they have a website? I was thinking about just emailing them since they probably get solicited all the time. What do you think?
You can try sending a letter and then following up with the a phone call. Emailing to businesses is tricky because of the spam blockers they have in place…I even have trouble getting emails from my clients and have to keep lossening the parameters. But if you call unsolicited you’ll probably get lost in voicemail-land. Best to start with postal and follow up with "did you receive the letter I sent you".
Here are the 10 best local TV ads ever. There were so many, we may need to make additional editions! http://www.liquidgeneration.com/eadae7a4

I’m trying to get an AT&T bundle that comes with unlimited local calling. I live in Texas. So does local mean anywhere inside Texas? If was to get the unlimited distant calls, does it mean all around United States?
Local calls are calls placed WITHIN the LATA.
Long Distance calls are calls placed OUTSIDE the LATA.
If you buy a bundle that includes long distance (call anywhere), these calls are limited to the Continental USA because calls to Mexico and Canada are still international and subject to tarrif and international agreements.
How do local EMA’s know when to sound a Tornado Siren? Who usually sounds them and where are they triggered? Please let me know thank you.
The national weather service collects the data and determines if and where a tornado is likely to strike. They will then notify the state’s warning point (each state has one main warning point operated by the national weather service). That warning point will then notify each agency whose jurisdiction is in danger. In most states that would be your county’s 911 dispatch center. They notify them via radio and a teletype sent through NCIC (the National Crime Information Center) – each state has their own version of NCIC, in Oregon we have LEDS (Law Enforcement Data Services) but I don’t know what state you are in. The person who receives the message from their state’s warning point will then sound the siren. It sounds complicated but it only takes a few seconds.
The guy looking at the doplar screen decides there may be a tornado, he picks up the radio and calls the State Warning Point and tells them where the tornadoes are likely to happen. "Your State" Warning Point gets on the radio and sends a brief emergency tone, which signals the dispatchers in each county to listen then he gives the info. The dispatchers hit a button to sound the tornado siren.
I want to have installed automatic side mirror adjuster. Can they install everything that you bring it? For usually how much?
I want to have a new engine brought in, can the local bodyshops install it for me? For usually how much?
Yes shops can install parts you bring. Where im from in michigan we have a shop called byop bring your own parts. But you dont want to go to a body shop for an engine replacement bodyshops are too busy usually it could take a while to get it done. Id just call around some Mechanics a fair price for mr to take out and put in a new motor provided you dont need any other parts like a mount or starter or pump or what have you. it should not be anymore then 500 dollars. Usually when you put in a new motor you need new parts id plan on spending close to a grand.
Was wondering if anyone knows like the difference between local ticket offices and online ones?
And like how do they work?
Ticket sellers work like any other store. They have inventory (tickets) which they sell to the public. Online sellers (Ticketmaster) will have a contract with venues or production companies or leagues and teams. They add on a service charge or shipping and handling to each ticket as their profit.
Ticket brokers will buy and sell tickets in the after-market, after the initial purchase has been made. Here there can be substantial mark-up from the face value of the ticket, depending upon the demand for the ticket.
